Plant Manager

The Plant Manager’s primary responsibilities include the daily management and coordination of plant operations including production, logistics and maintenance while ensuring compliance with all labor, safety, environmental and corporate policies and regulations.

b. This is a hands-on position that is responsible for maximizing daily production (up time), increasing productivity, minimizing residuals, auditing inbound and outbound materials, and producing commodities of quality levels acceptable to buyers.

1. Lead plant production and maintenance personnel in day to day activities to ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of equipment and facilities.

2. Ensure the efficient processing of incoming materials while maintaining end product quality standards.

3. Ensure preventative maintenance and repairs of all material handling systems and equipment to minimize downtime.

4. Works with Plant Operations Teams in planning, budgeting, organizing resources, executing work plans, monitors production and quality, co-ordinates priorities, resolves issues and participates in special projects and work schedules.

5. Direct, coach and mentor staff to ensure that performance targets are being met.

6. Ensures that all staff subordinates are suitably trained and qualified for the various tasks and jobs they must complete

7. Plans, organizes, implements and monitors work schedules/external suppliers consistent with the normal needs of the plant and special projects.

8. Ensure site compliance to all labor, safety, and environmental regulations.

9. Prepare management reporting as required.

10. Ensure that Health and Safety requirements are being met.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

1. Minimum 3-5 years experience in a plant management role.
2. Demonstrated experience in production planning, logistics and equipment maintenance.
3. Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
5. Excellent interpersonal, teambuilding and oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
6. Solid computer skills with proficiency in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel.
7. Experience in a recycling, material recovery or material handling facility is an asset.
